The transposition law has not yet been adopted in Romania — according to the Ministry of Labour, until adoption "the obligations it establishes do not yet produce effects on employers." The Pay Conversation
What you can do if you want to find out more about your own pay — and about your colleagues' pay in the same category.
- You have the right to disclose your own pay to anyone — your employer cannot prohibit or discourage this through a contract or internal policy.
- You can request your own pay level and the average by category/sex for equal work or work of equal value.
- The response deadline is firm — 2 months (Art. 7). If it passes without a response, you have grounds to repeat the request and, where they exist, involve employee representatives.
